If you’ve watched the brilliant series Severance on Apple TV+, you know what an integral role the music plays to setting the mood of the story arc. The fantastic score was composed by Theodore Shapiro, who series director Ben Stiller also collaborated with on The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. The original score is being released on vinyl by Mondo, a gallery and pop culture brand responsible for releasing not only terrific music, but some really incredible art—like these posters by Tyler Stout.
Regardless of whether or not you’re a fan of the show, if you appreciate clever design and packaging, I think you’ll dig how the vinyl score, designed by Spencer Hickman & Greg Ruth, is being distributed. The “Innie Edition” is a “Limited numbered edition of 5000, pressed on classic black vinyl and housed inside a bespoke concertina office folder featuring a Music Dance Experience card, a record safety card, Eagan bingo sheet, four character cards, a hidden map of the severed floor, and a Lumon disco bag.” The “Outie Edition” comes on white vinyl in a spot varnished gatefold sleeve with a printed inner sleeve.
Both will be available at MondoRecordShop.com on November 23, at 12pm CT.
