I am a firm believer in pausing and doing something different in order to flex my head. I don’t really paint anymore, at least not in the traditional sense. That came from exploring new tools and processes that were able to better achieve my artistic vision. It’s also the reason that I’m always on the lookout for a class I can take. A real physical class with people in it. I recently signed up for a ceramics class not because I had an idea for something specific to ceramics, but to simply do something that I hadn’t done in years. It lit a spark that actually reignited a few ideas that I’ve been kicking around for a few decades. The daily sketching you’re doing is a great exercise. Not only does it keep your eyes and hands fresh, it often leads to some of the more interesting ideas you come up with. Here’s to 25 more days of sketching every day.
