Delia Derbyshire is an early electronic music icon, though she didn't compose the Doctor Who theme. That was Ron Grainer. She did design and perform it, though. If you enjoy the music of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, it may be worth checking out their Polish precursor, the Polish Radio Experimental Studio.
